• SME Toolkit  is a comprehensive resource website aimed at informing, educating and assisting the South African entrepreneur to start, run and make a success of his/her business. And best of all, it’s all available at absolutely no cost to you! Access the website on: http://southafrica.smetoolkit.org. The site boasts a registered membership of more than 4000 members and receives around 24 000 hits per month. Users have lauded the SME Toolkit as a one-stop shop for almost any piece of information needed to run their business. Register on the Toolkit today to start receiving the monthly newsletter and grow your business knowledge and skills. Register on the site to receive a monthly newsletter and to advertise your business on the online directory.

 

• Cape Gateway is a single point of access to government information and services for the citizens of the Western Cape. This portal has over 60 000 pieces of information, with over one million pages viewed each month, including information on government tenders, government jobs, and helpful services, facilities and initiatives. The portal is also available in Afrikaans and in Xhosa.

 

• Capetown.gov.za provides all the news and information you might require about the Cape Town council, including business advice, statistics, investment opportunities, contacts, useful services and vacancies.

 

• The Construction Industry Development Board was established to provide leadership and to stimulate sustainable growth, reform and improvement of the construction sector for effective delivery and the industry’s enhanced role in the country’s economy. This site offers advice to members of the construction industry as well as information regarding tender opportunities.

 

• CIPRO stands for Companies & Intellectual Property Registration Office – and their website is a 24/7 delivery channel where you can apply to register your company, (PTY) Ltd or cc, and also find out all there is to know about name reservations, copyright, trademarks and patents and any other matter related to registering a company or protecting an idea or trademark.

 

• Coursera.org Coursera is an education platform that partners with top universities and organizations worldwide, to offer courses online for anyone to take, for free.

 

• Entrepreneur.co.za connects people on inspirational learning journeys featuring teachers and teachings from all over the world

 

• Housing.gov.za – “Breaking new ground in housing delivery” is the claim made by this website which covers all you need to know about housing delivery in South Africa; from housing statistics and subsidy information, through to housing programmes, tenders, vacancies and all the documentation you might need.

 

• The Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa Ltd (IDC)  was established to promote economic growth and industrial development in South Africa and the rest of Africa. They operate in a broad spectrum of industries and with specialised knowledge and experience, are able to offer financial assistance to a wide variety of individuals and companies. They count amongst their objectives: to provide financing that will stimulate job creation, investment activity and economic growth; to be a catalyst for economic change; to develop economies that are viable, sustainable and environmentally and socially responsible, to develop Small and Medium Enterprises, and To accelerate BEE and B-BBEE.

 

•  SMME Payment Assistance South Africa’s Small, Medium and Micro Enterprise (SMME) sector contributes more than 40% to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In an effort to support and sustain this critical sector, the Department of Trade and Industry’s (the DTI’s) Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda) today launched a national hotline for SMMEs at the Presidential Guest House in Pretoria, to assist with the process of outstanding government payments. • Khan Academy is a not-for-profit with the goal of changing education for the better by providing a free world-class education for anyone anywhere.

 

• SME South Africa is an online news portal. The website is a valuable resource for entrepreneurs and offers daily news articles, the latest trends, updates and developments relevant to SMEs from South Africa as well as in the region and globally.

 

• TED: Ideas Worth Spreading TED is a platform for ideas worth spreading. Started in 1984 as a conference where technology, entertainment and design converged, TED today shares ideas from a broad spectrum — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages.

 

• The National Roads Agency website is full of information about South African roads; their condition, toll road information and how to participate in their procurement process, tenders and their BEE policy.

 

• The Small Enterprise Development Agency provides small business and medium-sized enterprises with an invaluable gateway to information on starting, managing and growing a business.

 

• The Business Place is a network of walk-in centres for entrepreneurs – with relevant support and information services clustered under one roof. It has emerged as a leading small, medium and micro enterprise (SMME) development service in Southern Africa. They have a strong (but not exclusive) focus on the youth. Anyone who wants to start or grow a small business or micro enterprise is welcome. They create an inspirational, enabling environment that stimulates creativity, innovation and opportunity in order to unleash individual potential.

 

• The Department of Trade and Industry website is jam-packed with information about living, working, investing and doing business in South Africa; including information on exporting and their SMME development programme.
